New Delhi: Work is underway to legalize unauthorized colonies in Delhi without any demolition. Under this, the municipality has gathered and reviewed suggestions on the road network plan of three colonies, seeking feedback from the residents.

According to officials, the road network plan for East Azad Nagar in East Delhi, Khidki Extension in South Delhi, and Swaroop Nagar Colony in North Delhi was made public. Feedback was sought from the people, resulting in approximately 140 suggestions.

Now, these suggestions will be sent to the Municipal Layout Scrutiny Committee and then for approval by the permanent committee. Importantly, there will be no demolition or destruction to regularize these colonies and widen the roads. Instead, it will be ensured that any maps approved in these colonies will align with the approved road network plan.

Due to this reason, streets cannot be demolished...

An official from the Delhi Municipal Corporation, on the condition of anonymity, explained that the plan is to regularize colonies based on their current state. The population is so dense that their streets cannot be widened by demolishing them. Therefore, we are working on a plan to implement the width of streets within the boundaries of properties coming under road widening, without demolishing them for now.

In the coming years, when people come to obtain permission to build houses, they will pass the map by leaving aside the properties that fall under the road widening scope. In this way, over time, these colonies will be regularized according to the rules.
