Delhi University is introducing the Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme (VCIS) for UG and PG students in 2024. This scheme is open to all full-time regular students, irrespective of their field of study. It aims to provide valuable internship experiences, along with a monthly stipend and a certificate upon successful completion.

The internship initiative seeks to enhance students' skill sets and provide practical learning in a professional environment. Through this scheme, students will have the opportunity to gain experience in different departments, centers, and institutes of the University of Delhi. The expenses and stipends related to VCIS will be covered by the University Student Welfare Fund.

This unique internship program will help students expand their mental faculties and develop their skills within the familiar setting of their own college or university. Additionally, it will play a crucial role in nurturing students' research interests and providing them with valuable work experience.

Introducing the Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme:

An internship serves as a valuable opportunity for students to expand their skill set and gain hands-on experience. It provides a platform for integrating theoretical knowledge with real-life practicalities, fostering self-reliance, and enhancing interpersonal skills. Given the evolving landscape of education, it is essential for students to immerse themselves in professional environments to acquire practical learning experiences.

The Central Placement Cell (CPC) at the University of Delhi, under the office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare, proposes the introduction of the Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme (VCIS) for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The scheme aims to provide students with short-term exposure and valuable experience within different departments, centers, and institutes of the university.

This unique internship initiative aims to not only broaden students' mental faculties and enhance their skills within the familiar environment of their own college or university but also to cultivate research interests and equip them with essential work experience. All expenses and stipends related to VCIS will be covered by the University Student Welfare Fund.

Objectives of the Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme:

  1. The VCIS is designed to achieve the objectives of "Samagra Shiksha" (holistic education) as listed in the NEP 2020.
  2. It aims to engage young students in the university's work for mutual benefit.

  4. It intends to instill in interns a sense of belongingness to the university system.
  5. The VCIS will connect students to their local community and provide them with real-world experiences.
  6. It will train students in organizing documents, collating data, and utilizing available resources.
  7. The scheme's focus is to develop professional aptitude, strengthen personal character, and broaden students' mental horizons.
  8. It aims to provide students with diverse opportunities when seeking employment after college.
  9. The involvement of interns within the University of Delhi is expected to cultivate a sense of responsibility and strengthen the bonds with the institution.
  10. Furthermore, the scheme is designed to leverage the innovative ideas, abilities, and problem-solving skills of young students to bring about systemic and holistic changes to the university.

The DSW office will then upload the request on various platforms for quick dissemination of the information. Additionally, a Google form (Annexure-B) will be made available on the CPC/Spotlight and DSW websites in February and September of each academic year.

Based on the number of received applications, the Dean of Students’ Welfare office reserves the right to determine the eligibility criteria and number of applicants, as well as the screening process.

Students with specific domain interests will have the opportunity to engage with members of the selection committee.

The committee includes the following individuals:
