'Mid-Entry’ portal for UG admissions !

Delhi University (DU) is set to open a special 'mid-entry' portal for undergraduate admissions.  According to Anand Sonkar, the joint dean of admission at DU, the purpose of this mid-entry admission process is to accommodate students who may have missed the initial admission deadline for various reasons.

Starting at 5pm on Saturday, DU will accept fresh registrations for undergraduate courses through the 'mid-entry' portal for a duration of 48 hours. Along with fresh registrations, students who were previously disqualified due to discrepancies will have the opportunity to apply and be considered for the third merit list, which is scheduled to be released on September 11.

Anand Sonkar mentioned that while not all courses and departments may have vacancies, there are still available seats in the university. The list of vacant seats will be published on the students' dashboard on Saturday. Students registering during this mid-entry window can then select their preferences based on the available seats.

It's worth noting that the chances of reserved categories having more vacant seats across departments are higher compared to unreserved categories, based on previous year's trends. The mid-entry applications will be accepted until 4.59pm on Monday (September 9).

DU's dean of admission, Haneet Gandhi, emphasized that fresh registrations and applications from students who were previously rejected during Phase I or II will be accepted during this mid-entry window. These students will have the chance to rectify their preferences based on the available vacant seats, which will also be displayed on Saturday.

This marks the third consecutive year in which the university is allowing fresh applications to be considered in the middle of the admission process.

The third merit list for CSAS allocation is set to be released on September 11 along with the second merit list for supernumerary quotas. Students will have until September 13 to accept the allocated seats and until September 15 to complete the payment of fees. Earlier on September 3, the university released the first list of allocations in the supernumerary quotas of performance-based programs, Children/Widows of Personnel of the Armed Forces (CW), Extra Curricular Activities (ECA), sports, and ward of teaching and non-teaching staff working at the university and its colleges. The results of the upgraded allocations, which allowed students to change their college or seat, were also released simultaneously.

Additionally, the portal for payment of fees for students who were allocated seats in the supernumerary quotas closed on Friday.

Officials from the admission branch reported that this year's admission process has been the smoothest so far, with only a few dozen grievances despite receiving over one lakh applications. This signifies a positive start to the academic session, which commenced on August 29.

Best wishes.
